Recital Info for Students and Parents

Our 2026 year-end production, Once Upon a Time is right around the corner! Here is some important information for dancers and their families.

SHOWS & LOCATION

Our classes will be split into 2 separate shows. View the Recital Spreadsheet to determine if your child is in Show A, Show B, or both shows.

Show A
  • Show A will perform on Saturday, May 9th at 2:30 and Sunday, May 10th at 6:30.
  • Show A will have a Dress Rehearsal on Wednesday, May 6th.
Show B
  • Show B will perform Saturday, May 9th at 6:30 and Sunday, May 10th at 2:30.
  • Show B will have a Dress Rehearsal on Thursday, May 7th.

All performances and dress rehearsals will be held at VMI’s Gillis Theater in Marshall Hall. 

RECITAL WEEK SCHEDULE

  • A detailed schedule will be released soon. It will include info about spacing and dress rehearsal days/times.
  • Students will practice on the stage at VMI’s Gillis Theater in Marshall Hall.
  • Recital Week will include a Dress Rehearsal for each show with full costume, hair, and makeup.
  • It is important for dancers to attend all rehearsals and be on time.

RECITAL SUPPLIES

Hair & Tights Requirements:
View the Recital Spreadsheet to see the specific hair style and style/color of tights the dance teacher has assigned for each costume.

Nude Leotards:
Dancers who have multiple dances within the same show (for example a ballet, tap, and jazz costume change) are required to wear a nude leotard. Nude leotards are flesh colored leotards worn underneath tights and dance costumes. We require them for the dancers’ and staff members’ comfort and safety during quick costume changes.

Order Form for Recital Supplies: 

  • Use the Recital Order Form to purchase tights, nude leotards, recital t-shirts (with dancers’ names on the back!), and flash drive recordings of the recital performances.
  • Recital Order Forms are due by Monday, March 16th.
  • Two easy ways to submit forms: View and print a Recital Order Form PDF – OR – complete an Online Recital Form and pay using PayPal.

TICKETS

  • Tickets will go on sale Monday, April 13th.
  • Tickets are $12 each.
  • All attendees (including children) must have a ticket.
  • All accounts must be paid in full to receive recital tickets.
  • We strongly recommend purchasing your tickets as early as possible. Shows will sell out.

COSTUMES

  • Recital costumes will be sent home the week of April 13th.
  • All accounts must be up to date to receive your dancer’s costumes.
